Welcome to the World of Hair Extensions!

Want to know a fun fact about me? I wear hair extensions!

If you’re new to the wonderful world of extensions or interested in the possibility of purchasing some, this blog post shares a great overview of my personal experiences with hair extensions and the different types I personally have tried!

Why Do People Wear Hair-Extensions?

There are two main reasons people get hair extensions – either you want to add VOLUME to your hair or you want to add LENGTH. For me, I wear extensions to add length. I have no clue why but my hair literally has never grown longer than a few inches past my shoulders (realistically I can think of a lot of reasons why – i.e. heat damage, not getting trims frequently enough, bleaching my hair) but regardless, extensions have been a LIFE-SAVOR for me.

I started wearing clip-in extensions my freshman year of college, so when I was 18 years old. I’ve been wearing extensions ever since and have experimented with different types, so with 6 years of experience under my belt, I would say I’m pretty much a professional at this topic. I seriously do not know where I would be in life if I didn’t have extensions and never got introduced to this amazing concept. I love my natural hair of course, but I feel the most confident with long hair. Without extensions, I simply would not be able to look the way I want to! There’s really no shame in wearing extensions. Kylie Jenner openly wears wigs now, so if you’re thinking of trying extensions – don’t be embarrassed! It’s a totally normal thing in society now and I am 100% here for it. In this post, I will give an overview of why I’m obsessed with extensions. I have more posts coming soon breaking down the different types of extensions, how to apply, where to buy, and much more.

There are many types of extensions, the most popular being:

  • Clip-ins

  • Tape in

  • Micro-bond (Klix)

My Experiences with Clip-In Extensions-

I wore Clip-In Extensions almost every day from the age of 18 – 23! If you’re new to the world of extensions, you’re definitely going to want to start with Clip-In’s. These are much more for a beginner level and a great way to test out if you like wearing extensions! They are much less expensive and less of a commitment then the micro-bond and tape-in extensions.

My Experiences with Klix Extensions-

I recently made the transition into Klix extensions and it’s been LIFE CHANGING for me!! This is much more of a commitment and more expensive, but if you’re experienced in the extension world already, I cannot recommend this type of extensions more! Klix extensions have to be applied by a Klix Certified Stylist and last 4 -6 months. Every 4 – 6 weeks you have to go to your stylist to get the extensions moved up.

I’m so excited to start writing about my experience and tips about extensions with my readers because I truly have a wealth of knowledge in this area!!! My next post is going to be on the Pro’s and Con’s of Clip-In, Klix, and Tape-In Extensions. I cannot wait to share my post on HOW TO APPLY CLIP-IN EXTENSIONS and where to purchase the best brands!!!! Stay tuned 😉
